The FORTE FUENTES is a 17th century Spanish fort built at the request by the Governor of the State of Milan, Pedro Enriquez de Acevedo Count of Fuentes, to prevent any possibility of expansion by the Republic of the Three Gray Leagues (modern Swiss Grisons) who wanted expand its domain from Valtellina and Valchiavenna to the Upper Lake Como. Today, it is one of the most important historical sites in the Alto Lario.

But it's not just a simple sporting event, it's also a great opportunity to do good. In fact, the proceeds from Marafibrositona are donated entirely to the ETS Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation, which has been fighting for over 20 years to find a cure for this disease. Thanks to the previous editions, a good 300,000 euros were raised for scientific research.
