03-07-2023Trek towards the small temple of San Fedelino
The trek that leads to the small temple - and the beach - of San Fedelino is certainly one of the most fascinating itineraries of the upper Lake Como.
This walk of medium difficulty lasts about 5 and a half hours, round trip, for about 6 km in length. The Romanesque temple of S. Fedelino (10th century) is one of the first examples of Romanesque art in Lombardy, it can be visited during the day, although it is a modest-sized structure. But in addition to this undoubted historical testimony, this wonderful place hosts a magical beach: depending on the periods, and on the light, it often has a Caribbean aspect with fine white sand and transparent waters, tending towards light green.
Starting from Lascio (Sorico), you arrive at Sasso di Dascio, a rocky outcrop with a panoramic view of Pian di Spagna and continue on flat terrain that alternates with steep climbs. Once you reach the Brentaletto ridge you will find two indications: “Belvedere / S. Fedelino variant EE” and “S. Fedelino / Casenda / Via Francisca.
The first is a poorly marked path for expert hikers and at times dangerous for beginners. Following this path, about halfway along the route, there is a panoramic terrace. The second marked path, on the other hand, is also suitable for beginner hikers and, in addition to offering wonderful views of the Pian di Spagna Nature Reserve, the panorama also opens onto the Chiavenna plain.
After about 40 minutes you arrive at the small temple of San Fedelino, and then at the "enchanted beach".
This splendid place can be reached on foot, or by boat by reservation.
