| The northern part of Lake Como is absolutely ideal for windsurfing and other sports. There is a thermal wind called the "Breva" which blows from spring to late summer. The little place "Piona" is very popular among windsurfers. The north wind especially appears when there are bad weather conditions in the north. This wind comes from the "Veltlin" or the " Chiavenna Valley " and might occasionally reach 7-8 on the Beaufort scale. The water temperature can be as high as 24 degrees Celsius in summertime and the air temperature can be as high as 30 degrees C. The area is suitable for both beginners and advanced windsurfers. |
